As Reuters reports, according to the Fars news service affiliated to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran has increased its missile production three-fold.The Guard Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the Guards’ aerospace division said, “In the past, we had to do a lot of explaining to various bodies for our actions but it’s not like that anymore.”

He did not clarify the time period in which the production increase took place, but emphasized on a joint agreement by the government, parliament and other Iranian officials on the need for ground-to-ground missiles.

Apart from how much this muscle-flexing is real or bogus, the timing of the deliberate leaking news is significant.

On Monday France’s foreign minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian visited Iran on a mission to persist on Europe’s support for preserving the nuclear deal and mutually meddling for a proper response to decreasing U.S. concern about the Iran regime missile program and its destabilizing role in regional conflicts.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly called the Iran nuclear deal a flawed agreement and has threatened to pull out of the deal unless the European signatories help “fix” it by impelling Iran regime to change its behavior in the Middle East and to limit its missile program in accordance with the United Nations Security Council’s resolution.

Although the Iran regime’s official response has been ‘the ballistic missile program was not up for negotiation’, but Le Drian’s visit has engaged the clerical regime in a stalemate position.

Saber-rattling with the controversial missile program has a dual-benefit for the Iranian regime. It helps to increase the price and build up its position in an imaginary international negotiation with the great powers, and the domestic usage to keep up appearances for the sake of its defeatist forces, who are under the impact of the Iranian people’s anti-regime continuous protests.

Particularly the regime will have tough times in coming days due to the annual “Fire Festivities” held on the last Tuesday night of the Iranian calendar before on the eve of the new Iranian year.

Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has called for a nationwide uprising to mark the “Fire Festivities” celebration. Senior Iranian officials have committed how the PMOI/MEK organized the recent protests across the country.
