Iran\u2019s Regime Violates Human Rights at Home and Plots Terrorism in Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n
150 MEPs call for Expelling Iran Intelligence Agents from EU<\/strong><\/p>\n
In a joint statement 150 Members of the European Parliament have condemned Iranian regime\u2019s human rights abuses at home and its terrorist plots in Europe.<\/p>\n
The signatories are from the six major political groups in the European Parliament and represent 27 EU Member States. They include 4 Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament and 14 Committee and Delegation Chairs.<\/p>\n
The signatories have expressed concerns for deteriorating situation of human rights and repression of women in Iran. The MEPs recalled that Iran \u201chas maintained the highest number of executions in the world per capita during the presidency of the so-called \u2018moderate\u2019 Hassan Rouhani.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since late December last year, Iranian cities have been the scenes of major uprisings and anti-regime protests. The social atmosphere is volatile, and people demand fundamental change.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the regime\u2019s officials have acknowledged the role of \u201cresistance units\u201d of the opposition PMOI (MEK) in organizing protests and nationwide strikes. Tehran spends millions on a massive smear campaign throughout the western world, disseminating false news and misinformation against this main opposition movement.<\/p>\n
Unable to defeat the protesters at home, the regime launched a new wave of terrorism against opposition activists abroad. In recent months, several Iran regime\u2019s terror plots have been neutralized by European and American Security agencies. An Iranian diplomat arrested in Germany is now facing trial in Belgium.<\/p>\n
France has officially sanctioned Iran\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence and accused it of being behind the bomb plot targeting the opposition NCRI\u2019s Free Iran gathering in Paris on 30 June 2018.<\/p>\n
Last month, Denmark recalled its ambassador from Iran over a foiled assassination plot targeting Iranian dissidents living in Denmark.<\/p>\n
The MEPs criticized the current EU approach towards Iran.\u00a0\u201cThe EU\u2019s silence in the face of brutal human rights violations in Iran and lack of any response to the serious terror plots in Europe is unacceptable,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the EU lawmakers emphasised adding that \u201cwe must hold the Iranian regime accountable for its terror plots and expel Iranian Intelligence Ministry operatives from Europe.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
They also urged Albanian government which is hosting several thousand Iranian opposition refugees \u201cnot to permit Iranian agents on its territory\u201d after an Iranian bomb plot was foiled near Tirana earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Speaking from Brussels MEP G\u00e9rard Deprez, chair of Friends of a Free Iran \u2013 an informal intergroup with a large following in the European Parliament, stressed: \u201cHuman rights in Iran cannot be compromised or marginalised on the excuse of political considerations, trade or the nuclear deal. Any expansion of political and economic relations with Iran must be conditional to a clear progress on human rights, women\u2019s rights and a halt to executions.<\/em><\/p>\n

Incapable de stopper les manifestions dans le pays, le r\u00e9gime a lanc\u00e9 une nouvelle vague de terrorisme contre les militants de l\u2019opposition \u0155 l\u2019\u00e9tranger. Au cours des derniers mois, plusieurs complots terroristes du r\u00e9gime iranien ont \u00e9t\u00e9 neutralis\u00e9s par les services europ\u00e9ennes et am\u00e9ricaines. Un diplomate iranien arr\u0119t\u00e9 en Allemagne fait maintenant l\u2019objet d\u2019un proc\u010ds p\u00e9nal en Belgique.<\/p>\n
