Friday, August 20, 2021 — At 0915 a.m. CEST, the fifth session of the trial of the executioner Hamid Noury began in Stockholm, Sweden. As in previous hearings, the MEK supporters gathered in front of the court in Stockholm. At the fifth hearing, the plaintiffs’ attorneys present their views on the indictment.
Noury is being tried for his role in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran, mostly members and supporters of the MEK.
At this meeting, the Mullahs’regime’s lawyers are scheduled to respond to the prosecutor’s indictment. Kenneth Lewis, one of the plaintiffs’ lawyers, said: “On June 20, 1981, the regime suppressed the peaceful demonstrations of the MEK.
Referring to the words of the regime leaders and their actions, Kenneth Lewis said: “The 1988 massacre is a clear example of genocide.”
Kenneth Lewis, citing international treaties: There is no doubt that what happened in 1988 was genocide.
The plaintiffs’ attorney also cited the views of prominent experts such as Professors Eric David and Jeffrey Robertson.
In the morning session, the executioner Noury’s lawyer also said some points in response to the indictment.
The afternoon session of the court was also dedicated to the words of the Noury’s lawyer. The trial ended at 4:20 p.m. CEST. The next court hearing will be held on the Monday, 23 August.
