OIAC Rally in Washington, DC: Call For the Prosecution of Raisi for Crimes Against Humanity and Support Iran Protests

Hold Raisi Accountable for 1988 Massacre!

“On Monday, August 2, 2021, a day before Ebrahim Raisi assumes the office of presidency in Iran, several hundred Iranian Americans (OIAC), including relatives of victims and witnesses, gathered on Capitol grounds to call for the prosecution of Raisi for crimes against humanity. Participants expressed support for pro-democracy protesters in Iran.

Over the past few weeks, thousands have been protesting against the clerical regime as well as lack of water and electricity in Iran. The protests began in the Khuzestan province but have since expanded to other parts of the country. At least 12 protesters have been killed.

An elaborate street photo exhibition complemented the rally to highlight four decades of systemic human rights violations in Iran, particularly Raisi’s role in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, the November 2019 murder of 1,500 protesters, and the assassination of dozens of political dissidents abroad.

……

Hundreds of Iranian American supporters of the main opposition organization, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), rally near the U.S. Capitol to call for the prosecution of the Iranian regime’s incoming president, Ebrahim Raisi, for crimes against humanity.

OIAC called on the United States government to lead an international inquiry into the 1988 Massacre, hold Raisi accountable.
Iranian Americans called on the President of the United States to hold Iranian leaders accountable for ongoing crimes against humanity.

At the rally, the slogans were chanted by supporters of the Iranian resistance in the United States or were written on billboards and banners:

Raisi, “the Butcher”, from the time that he was only 19, has functioned within the Judiciary in different positions, ordering the executions of thousands of people.
He must be prosecuted for committing genocide and crimes against humanity

Ebrahim Raisi’s terrorism knows no borders, extends beyond 1988 Massacre, to drone attacks, regional mischief and predatory behavior.
At its core, his kind is incapable of embracing life or prosperity, craves death & destruction.

The Iran Rally, supports the recent uprisings for justice, human rights, and freedom; calls on
The United states to stand on the side of Iranian people, and take the lead in bringing
Raisi to justice before international tribunals.
Every Iranian inside and outside Iran confronting the regime and Covid-19 are shouting: Prosecute Raisi Now! and “Down with Khamenei, Raisi”.

Iranian Americans from 41 States gathered in Washington DC pleading with international community to bring a butcher selected as so-called president to the international tribunal.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI: “The appointment of Ebrahim Raisi to the regime’s presidency signals the end for the clerical regime. Raisi is the symbol of the regime’s brutality.
He played a key role in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners on Khomeini’s fatwa.”

Maryam Rajavi also said, “Khamenei, his IRGC, and the mass murderer, Ebrahim Raisi, will never be able to silence the voice of Iranians and the young people by bullets and tear gas, detention, and torture, and by shutting down the internet.”

One of the speakers, Firouz Daneshvari a professor of surgery said, I stand here in solidarity with resistance units working on the streets of Iran, and as a representative of a generation that has been victims of torture, execution”.
