Iran coronavirus death toll surpasses 25,000, more people to die for regime’s inaction
The Coronavirus outbreak in Iran continues to run rampage across the whole country. So far, there have been at least 25,000 deaths, as reported by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK), the main opposition to the Iranian regime.
The people of Iran have been left very vulnerable to the new virus that is affecting people all over the world. The outbreak has reached 251 cities across the country.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, the Iranian regime has failed to manage the situation effectively. It has lied about the reality of the situation and it has deceived the people about the extent of the crisis.
President Hassan Rouhani continues to tell the people that there are plenty of hospital beds available across the country, but this is in direct contrast to what the front line workers are saying. Nurses, doctors and other medical staff have been saying for weeks that hospitals are as full as they can be and that they are having to turn sick people away.
In many parts of the country, the death toll continues to rise at an alarming rate. Doctors and nurses are losing their lives too after being exposed to the virus and having no choice to work without the protective equipment that medical staff around the world are supplied with.
Despite the situation remaining very concerning, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani are telling people to return to normal working activities as of Saturday 11th April. This goes against the expert advice provided to the government by many.
For example, the head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran said that the past few days have seen a massive rise in the number of patients requiring medical attention. He said that the situation in Tehran is critical as it is one of the worst-affected places. He said that it is a hotspot and that the situation in the city cannot be compared to any other part of the country.
It is clear that the Supreme Leader and the Iranian president are only concerned about the economy. They do not care about the health or welfare of the people and have left them to deal with the situation on their own. Governments across the world have put measures in place to protect the people and the economy. Exceptional payments are being made to people so that they can afford to temporarily stay at home while the threat of Coronavirus decreases and measures have been taken so that businesses can survive this exceptional time. Governments are ensuring that their health services are fully equipped and that the medical workers are protected.
The lack of humanity on the part of the regime is startling. During a recent 45-minute-long speech, the Supreme Leader failed to show any compassion to the millions of bereaved people across the country, making it very clear that his only concern is to preserve the rule of the regime.
