Majority of Welsh Parliament Supports Maryam Rajavi’s Democratic Vision for Iran

In a significant show of support, a majority of members of the Welsh Parliament have backed Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-point Plan for a future free and democratic Iran. This comprehensive blueprint put forth by the Iranian opposition leader outlines a vision for establishing a secular, democratic, non-nuclear republic that upholds human rights, gender equality, and the autonomy of ethnic minorities.

The endorsement from Welsh parliamentarians comes as the Iranian people’s desire for regime change and a democratic transition has gained widespread international recognition. The Free Iran World Summit 2023, held recently, saw the participation of numerous former heads of state, senior officials, and political dignitaries from around the globe, all voicing solidarity with the Iranian Resistance’s democratic aspirations.

Maryam Rajavi‘s Ten-Point Plan has emerged as a beacon of hope for Iranians seeking to overthrow the repressive clerical regime. The plan’s key tenets include rejecting the current system of velayat-e faqih (absolute clerical rule) and establishing a republic based on universal suffrage and political pluralism. It also calls for guaranteeing fundamental freedoms, upholding human rights principles, separating religion and state, achieving complete gender equality, granting autonomy to ethnic minorities, and promoting a free market economy.

Welsh lawmakers have called on the international community to recognize the Iranian people’s right to resist and support the MEK Resistance Units in confronting the IRGC.

This move by the Welsh Parliament increases international pressure on the Iranian regime, urging governments worldwide to adopt stricter measures against Iran, including designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization and implementing oil sanctions. The statement emphasizes the need for accountability for human rights violations, particularly the 1988 massacre, and supports the Iranian people’s pursuit of a democratic future.
