Gothenburg Rally Protests Death Sentences for PMOI Political Prisoners, Backs ‘No to Executions Tuesdays’

Gothenburg, Sweden—December 3, 2024

Gothenburg, Sweden—December 3, 2024: Freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized a rally in solidarity with the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign for the thirtieth consecutive week. The campaign responds to the executions taking place in Iranian regime prisons.

Supporters of the Iranian Resistance protested the death sentences handed down to six political prisoners associated with the PMOI. The event also condemned the Iranian regime’s ongoing crimes against the Iranian people and expressed solidarity with the ongoing Iranian Revolution.

The Iranian community in Gothenburg protested the rising wave of executions carried out by the Iranian regime, calling for the immediate release of all political prisoners held in the regime’s prisons. MEK supporters in Gothenburg also demanded that the leaders of the mullahs’ regime be tried for crimes against humanity in an international court.

Rally participants in Gothenburg called for an end to Sweden’s policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime and demanded that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) be designated as a terrorist organization.

Freedom-loving Iranians in Gothenburg emphasized the Iranian people’s desire for a democratic republic and their rejection of any form of dictatorship, whether under the mullahs’ regime or a return to the Shah’s rule.

They demanded recognition of the resistance and the right of the Iranian people and the MEK Resistance Units inside Iran to defend themselves in their struggle against tyranny and dictatorship.
