On Saturday, December 7, 2024, a conference was held at the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in Paris. The event featured Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, along with notable German political figures, Guy Verhofstadt, the Former Prime Minister of Belgium, members of the German Federal Parliament, and representatives of Iranian communities in Germany.
The conference was titled:
“The Solution to the Iran Crisis and the Role of the Democratic Alternative.”
Maryam Rajavi was the keynote speaker at the conference. In her speech, she highlighted several critical points:
- Explosive societal discontent: The ruling regime faces widespread discontent and is incapable of preventing inevitable uprisings.
- Persistent organized resistance: The regime has been unable to suppress the organized resistance, with Resistance Units now firmly established as a significant force in society.
- Weakened regional influence: The regime’s regional power balance has significantly deteriorated, and its proxy forces are debilitated.
- Entrenched crises: Unable to retreat from its strategy of war and repression, the regime lacks the capacity for even minor reforms and cannot escape its economic collapse.
Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that while the clerical regime resorts to war in the Middle East to cling to power, it cannot avert the inevitable uprisings and its ultimate downfall. She asserted that the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom is destined to succeed.
She further stated:
“For this criminal and belligerent regime, there is an Iranian solution: the overthrow of the regime by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.
We have never asked any government or power to enact change in Iran. However, we call on the global community to:
- Recognize the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the regime.
- Endorse the stance expressed by 510 German lawmakers last July: ‘The Iranian regime has closed all political avenues for change. Therefore, the free world must recognize the Iranian people’s right to revolt and the Resistance Units’ right to confront the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).’”
