Iranian Resistance Rally in Brussels: Stop Executions in Iran, Support the NCRI’s Third Option”

Brussels, Belgium – July 23, 2025
Brussels, Belgium – July 23, 2025

Brussels, Belgium – July 23, 2025 – Supporters of the Iranian Resistance, including members of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), gathered outside the European Parliament in Brussels to protest the clerical regime in Tehran and advocate for a democratic alternative. They called on the European Union to urgently designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

The demonstrators condemned the regime’s escalating use of death sentences and its intensified crackdown on political prisoners. They called for the immediate annulment of all death sentences and the unconditional release of all political detainees.

Protesters denounced the regime’s systematic policy of forcibly transferring political prisoners to remote, high-security prisons—a tactic often used as a prelude to executions or enforced disappearances. Drawing chilling parallels to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners, they warned that “a crime is in progress.”

The rally strongly endorsed the “Third Option” proposed by Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, which advocates for democratic change driven by the Iranian people and the organized resistance movement. Rejecting both foreign military intervention and appeasement of the regime, participants presented this strategy as the only viable path toward a free and democratic Iran.

Several Iranian, Belgian and European dignitaries attended the rally and expressed solidarity with the protesters. Among them was Mr. Paulo Casaca, former Member of the European Parliament from Portugal, who delivered a powerful speech. He firmly urged the European External Action Service (EEAS) to take a clear and public stance against the wave of executions in Iran, stressing the need for Europe to align itself with the values of human rights and justice.

In their remarks, these dignitaries supported the demands of the Iranian Resistance and endorsed Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option as a credible framework for establishing a democratic republic in Iran.

Participants carried banners and chanted slogans in favor of a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Iran. They emphasized the need for a republic founded on the separation of religion and state, gender equality, and the protection of ethnic and religious minorities. The crowd firmly rejected both the current theocratic regime and any return to monarchical rule.

In a powerful symbolic act, demonstrators staged protests condemning the regime’s recent wave of executions. They reiterated their demand for an immediate halt to executions and the unconditional release of all political prisoners.

Speakers urged the international community to recognize the NCRI and Maryam Rajavi’s comprehensive 10-point plan as the only legitimate and democratic alternative to the ruling regime. They also called for acknowledgment of the right of MEK Resistance Units inside Iran to defend themselves against ongoing state repression.

The rally in Brussels highlighted the growing international support for the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom, justice, and democracy—and sent a clear message to European policymakers: it is time to stand with the Iranian people, not with their oppressors.
