Rally in Gothenburg Supports Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option and NCRI’s Democratic Alternative

Gothenburg, Sweden – August 16, 2025

Gothenburg, Sweden – August 16, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Gothenburg to reaffirm their support for Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as the only democratic alternative to Iran’s theocratic regime.

Participants expressed concern over the imminent execution of five political prisoners and called for the abolition of the death penalty, the release of all political prisoners, and global recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.

The demonstrators demanded stronger international measures, including the blacklisting of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the closure of the Iranian embassy in Sweden, to hold Tehran accountable for its human rights violations.

A central focus of the rally was support for Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for Iran’s Future, which advocates universal suffrage, gender equality, freedom of speech and assembly, autonomy for ethnic minorities, separation of religion and state, a non-nuclear Iran, and other democratic reforms. Attendees emphasized that this plan offers a clear and realistic roadmap for a free, secular, and democratic Iran.

Speakers condemned all forms of dictatorship, whether clerical or monarchical, stressing that Iran’s future must be grounded in democracy, human rights, and the sovereignty of its people.

The rally concluded with a call to the international community: to stand with the Iranian people, recognize their right to resist tyranny, and support the MEK Resistance Units in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and democracy.
