Toronto, Canada – August 16, 2025 – ISupporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Toronto to raise the alarm over the imminent execution of five political prisoners in Iran: Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Babak Alipour. The Iranian regime has transferred them to Ghezel Hesar Prison, a facility notorious for mass executions, placing their lives in grave danger.
The protest also condemned the recent state-sanctioned executions of PMOI members Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, highlighting the Mullahs’ escalating campaign of repression. Demonstrators voiced unwavering support for the PMOI Resistance Units operating inside Iran and reaffirmed their vision for a democratic republic based on freedom, equality, and secular governance, rejecting both theocracy and monarchy.
Protesters demanded:
-
The complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran;
-
The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners;
-
International recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.
Freedom-loving Iranians in Toronto expressed their support for the call made by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), to expand participation in the “No to Executions” campaign.
