MEK Resistance Units Back 100th Week of Prisoners’ “No to Executions Tuesdays” Campaign in Iran

December 24, 2025

On December 23, 2025, Resistance Units affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) celebrated the 100th consecutive week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign with widespread anti-regime activities across Iran.

The campaign, which originated in Ghezelhesar Prison and has expanded to 55 prisons nationwide, features weekly hunger strikes and statements by political prisoners protesting the regime’s extensive use of capital punishment. Resistance Units have taken this prison-born initiative to the streets, turning it into a coordinated national movement.

In the 100th week, activists carried out 116 protest actions in 80 cities, including Tehran, Shahriar, Dorud, Kazeroun, Karaj, areas near Ghezelhesar Prison, Bam, Tabriz, and Ardabil.

Key activities included installing banners and placards in Tehran proclaiming “We stand with political prisoners and will be your voices” and “One hundred weeks of protest, one hundred weeks of crying out against executions and tyranny.”

In Shahriar, banners saluted prisoners enduring 100 weeks of hunger strikes and demanded the release of all political detainees. Tributes honored executed PMOI supporters Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, whom the regime secretly buried in July 2025 to deny families proper funerals.

In Dorud, Kazeroun, and near Ghezelhesar Prison, activists laid flowers and displayed signs reading “In memory of the martyrs who were denied graves.”

In Kazeroun, slogans vowed “We swear by the blood of our comrades that we will stand till the end.”

In Karaj, even during the cold Yalda Night, supporters chanted “No to executions,” while banners declared “Abolition of executions is the demand of the Iranian people.” Posters in Tehran and other cities called for halting executions of political prisoners like Mohammad Javad Vafaei Sani, Karim Khojasteh, and Ehsan Faridi, who sent a solidarity message from Tabriz Prison.

In Ardabil, a slogan highlighted resilience: “The hangman’s noose has no effect on Damavand.”

These actions underscore the campaign’s growth into a national demand, demonstrating the regime’s failure to suppress dissent through executions.
