Tribute to the January Uprising and Its Martyrs
Berlin, February 7, 2026 — Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), addressed a large gathering of Iranians in Berlin on the anniversary of the Iranian people’s anti-monarchical revolution. She began by commemorating the January uprising, describing it as an uprising marked by bloodshed, sacrifice, and the fury of a heroic nation that shook Iran and the world.
Rajavi paid tribute to the martyrs of the uprising and honored the courage of Iran’s rebels, stating that their actions resonated globally and shattered what she described as appeasement toward the IRGC in Europe.

“The Countdown to Overthrow Has Begun”
In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi said that the overthrow of the clerical regime is now certain and visible. She emphasized the need to recognize 44 years of resistance by the Iranian people and the role of the Resistance Units and the National Liberation Army of Iran.
Addressing bereaved families, she spoke of parents who call for the continuation of the uprising despite their loss. She recalled figures such as Aziz, the mother of the Rezaei siblings, and quoted Ashraf Rajavi and Mousa Khiabani, referring to decades of repression, executions, and massacres. Mrs. Rajavi stated that following the January uprising, the countdown to the regime’s downfall has begun.

Rejecting the Hijacking of the Uprising
Mrs. Rajavi described the January uprising as having three sides: the rebels who sacrificed their lives, the ruling clerics who carried out repression, and remnants of the Shah’s regime who, she said, sought to appropriate the uprising with divisive slogans.
She stressed that Iran’s resistance has fought both the Shah’s dictatorship and the clerical regime for six decades, and highlighted the expansion of Resistance Units among Iran’s youth. She concluded this section by saluting Massoud Rajavi for founding the National Liberation Army and shaping what she called a democratic alternative.
Vision of a Democratic Republic
Responding to questions about the future, Mrs. Rajavi said the January uprising demonstrated that overthrowing tyranny is possible. She stated that a future Iran would be a democratic republic following the path of Mohammad Mossadegh, with separation of religion and state, autonomy for nationalities, and a non-nuclear Iran at peace with the world.
She reiterated the principle of “No to the Shah, no to the mullahs,” describing it as a guiding light rejecting dictatorship and affirming freedom and independence. She noted that, according to the NCRI program, a Constituent Assembly would draft a new constitution within six months of the regime’s overthrow.
Call for National Solidarity
Mrs. Rajavi reaffirmed the call for a National Solidarity Front composed of republicans who support separation of religion and state and reject the system of velayat-e faqih. She said that despite political and ideological differences, unity under the name and flag of Iran is necessary for the highest interests of the Iranian people.
Appeal to the International Community
From Berlin, Maryam Rajavi called on world leaders to recognize the Iranian people’s struggle, act to halt executions, support free internet access, pursue international prosecution of Iranian leaders, close regime embassies, and cut off the regime’s financial lifelines.
She concluded by honoring the leaders and martyrs of past and present uprisings, stating that Iran’s democratic revolution is advancing at a higher stage and will prevail. Mrs. Rajavi ended her address with salutations to the uprising, the martyrs, and victory for the democratic revolution of the Iranian people.
From here, I call on the leaders of the world to listen to the cry for freedom of the Iranian people, demands that we have repeated many times for over three decades:
