Iranian Americans Rally in Washington to Support Iran Uprising

Washington, D.C. – February 20, 2026: On Friday night, Iranian Americans and supporters of the Iranian Resistance (NCRI and PMOI/MEK) gathered in front of the U.S. Capitol to express solidarity with the ongoing nationwide uprising in Iran. The event, held on the 40th day after the killings of protesters, included a vigil to honor the fallen and demand justice.

Participants chanted anti-regime slogans and called for an end to dictatorship in all its forms. They demanded the immediate release of political prisoners and detainees. Demonstrators carried banners and portraits of those killed in recent uprisings, echoing protesters inside Iran with chants such as “Regime change in Iran by the people of Iran,” and “No to the Shah! No to the Mullahs!” They called for the establishment of a free and democratic republic in Iran, rejecting both monarchical and theocratic rule.

Tribute to the Fallen and a Call for Action

Forty days ago, the IRGC and the regime under Ali Khamenei opened fire on peaceful demonstrators, hoping bullets would silence a nation. They were wrong. Supporters of the Iranian Resistance now honor the young women and men killed for demanding freedom, dignity, and a democratic republic. In Iranian tradition, the 40th day after a martyr’s death marks not closure, but the renewal of resistance.

The protesters emphasized that the Iranian people have rejected dictatorship in all its forms. They continue to demand a secular, democratic, and non-nuclear republic founded on the rule of law and equal rights for all citizens.

“No to the Shah, No to the Mullahs”: Iranians Chant Outside the U.S. Capitol

For decades, the people of Iran and their organized resistance have embraced the sacrifices that freedom demands. The demonstrators urged the U.S. to align its policies with the Iranian people’s struggle for regime change and democracy.
