Rally Targets Representative of the Mullahs’ Regime at UN Human Rights Council

Geneva, Switzerland — February 24, 2026:
Simultaneous with the session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance gathered outside the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva to protest the presence of Kazem Gharibabadi, representative of the mullahs’ regime at the UN office in Geneva.

Demonstrators strongly condemned what they described as the regime’s attempt to legitimize itself on the international stage while continuing widespread repression at home. Protesters said allowing the representative of the mullahs’ regime to participate in UN proceedings, despite its extensive record of human rights violations, was unacceptable.

Solidarity with Iran’s Nationwide Uprising

The rally expressed solidarity with Iran’s nationwide uprising and honored the martyrs of the movement, particularly those killed during the January 2026 uprising. Participants displayed photos of victims and carried banners reading, “No Shah, No Mullahs — Yes to a Democratic Republic.”

Speakers emphasized that the Iranian people reject all forms of dictatorship, whether monarchical or religious, and seek to establish freedom, democracy, and human rights through a democratic republic.

Call for Accountability for Crimes Against Humanity

A central focus of the gathering was the demand for international accountability. Protesters called for the condemnation of the regime’s brutal human rights violations, including escalating executions and systematic repression.

They urged democratic governments to revoke immunity for regime officials and to pursue legal action against senior leaders for crimes against humanity. Specific reference was made to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners and the mass killing of protesters during the January 2026 uprising, as well as other documented abuses.

Demonstrators called for investigations under international law, prosecution in international courts, and the application of universal jurisdiction to hold regime leaders accountable.

Support for Democratic Change in Iran

Participants reiterated their support for the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the ruling system and establish a democratic republic founded on freedom, justice, and respect for human rights.

They stressed that statements of concern are no longer sufficient and urged the international community to take concrete measures in support of the Iranian people’s aspirations.
