Resistance Units Commemorate the Founders of the PMOI and Emphasize: Overthrow the Mullahs’ Dictatorship

Resistance units across Iran mark the anniversary of May 25, 1972, honoring the executed founders of the PMOI and renewing their commitment to continue the struggle against the Mullahs’ dictatorship.

On the anniversary of May 25, 1972, when the founders of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) were executed by the Shah’s regime, Resistance Units carried out widespread activities across Iran to honor their memory and renew their pledge to continue their path. These activities summarized a long path of struggle and sacrifice and included the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, Karaj, Shiraz, Kerman, Arak, Sanandaj, Lahijan, Babolsar, Saravan, Kamyaran, Astara, Tabas, Mashhad, Isfahan, Khorramabad, Hamedan, Iranshahr, Rafsanjan, and Ravar. These bold actions demonstrated that the blood of the founding generation continues to flow in the veins of the new generation, heralding the approaching dawn of freedom.

Loyalty to the Covenant from Tehran to Tabriz

In the capital, Tehran, Resistance Units carried out extensive activities, where uprising youth placed large wreaths at the shrines of martyrs and founders in commemoration of their memory. Images of the founders decorated the city’s alleys, accompanied by a message from Mrs. Maryam Rajavi affirming loyalty to the covenant of the martyrs. In a solemn scene, five to six different units in Tehran renewed their pledge of steadfastness and resistance while holding images of the founders.

In Tabriz, the birthplace of the martyred founder Mohammad Hanifnejad, units distributed leaflets bearing images of the martyrs and a message from Mrs. Rajavi praising the magnitude of their sacrifice. The women’s units in Tabriz also announced, through their images and banners, their commitment to continuing the path.

The Vanguard of Women and the Challenge to Walls

Iranian women played a prominent role in these activities, as women’s units in Saravan, Tehran, and Tabriz were seen holding images of the martyrs—sending a clear message reflecting the immense revolutionary potential of Iranian women in leading the path toward liberation.

On another front, city walls became arenas of defiance. In Karaj, Shiraz, and Tabas, images of Hanifnejad and the martyrs adorned urban streets. In Babolsar, large murals were painted glorifying the martyrs, while in Rafsanjan, Ravar, and Karaj, activists inscribed their historic slogan: “Hanif’s blood is boiling, and Rajavi roars.”

Field activities and the display of leadership and founders’ images also spread to Kerman, Arak, Sanandaj, Lahijan, Kamyaran, Astara, Mashhad, Isfahan, Khorramabad, Hamedan, and Iranshahr, forming a field-based popular referendum that reflects the expanding scope of the resistance.

Executions Produce Defiance, Not Fear

These extensive activities demonstrate the failure of the strategy of terror pursued by the dictatorship of the Supreme Leader. Waves of executions and intimidation have not and will not break the will of uprising youth; instead, they have strengthened their determination and conviction. These young activists took to the streets without fear, adopting the martyred commander Vahid Bani-Amerian and his heroic comrades as role models of courage and readiness for sacrifice.

Liberation as an Internal Decision and Sacrifice as the Path

The presence of Resistance Units in the streets, armed with the principle of self-sacrifice established by the founder Hanifnejad, clearly shows that the outlines of a free Iran are becoming visible on the horizon. The most important strategic message of these activities is that the key to overthrowing the dictatorship and resolving the Iranian question lies exclusively in the hands of the organized resistance and these courageous youth inside the country. The path to freedom, it asserts, is paved by the sacrifices of Iranians themselves, not through foreign intervention, external attack, or international political maneuvering.
