Resistance Units Promote Democratic Alternative While Rejecting Monarchy and Clerical Rule

June 12, 2026—Zahedan, southeast Iran
In their weekly anti-regime activities, MEK Resistance Units rejected both clerical dictatorship and a return to monarchy, reiterating their commitment to overthrowing the regime and establishing a democratic republic.

Resistance Leaders’ Messages Reject Both Clerical Rule and Monarchy

The placards carried messages from Iranian Resistance leader Mr. Massoud Rajavi and NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, emphasizing that Iran’s future lies neither in the restoration of monarchy nor in the continuation of clerical rule.

Among the messages circulated were:

  • “This regime neither intends to change its behavior and policy, nor does it have the capacity and nature to do it.”
  • “All the heavy burdens and problems of the people are, above all, the direct consequence of the clerical regime’s rule.”
  • “The main war of the tyrannical rulers is confronting the people of Iran.”
  • “Down with Khamenei, curse upon Khomeini, down with the principle of absolute clerical rule—long live the Liberation Army”
  • “With the slogan ‘Neither Shah nor Sheikh,’ the people of Iran and oppressed nationalities have stood up against religious fascism.”
  • “Iranian society is moving toward a democratic republic.”
  • “‘Neither Shah nor Sheikh’ signifies a clear rejection of both dictatorship and dependency. Just as the Shah was overthrown, the Sheikh’s downfall is certain and inevitable.”
  • “The Resistance and uprising for a free Iran are committed to a clear demarcation from monarchical fascism and to upholding the guiding principle of ‘Neither Shah nor Sheikh.'”

Campaign Reaffirms Democratic Republican Vision

The campaign reaffirmed the Resistance movement’s commitment to a democratic republic based on the principle of “Neither Shah nor Sheikh.”
