Paris, August 1, 2026 – An exhibition calling for the abolition of the death penalty in Iran was held on Saturday, August 1, at Place de la République in Paris. Organized by supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran ( PMOI/MEK ) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ) , the event honored the memory of recently executed PMOI members and protesters who lost their lives during Iran’s nationwide uprising in January 2026.
Held under the slogan #StopExecutionsInIran , the exhibition drew significant public attention. Many Parisians stopped to visit the displays, spoke with the organizers, and expressed their solidarity with the Iranian people. Participants also highlighted the alarming situation in Iran, noting that thousands of prisoners are currently under death sentences and calling for the abolition of capital punishment.
Throughout the gathering, supporters of the Iranian Resistance chanted, “The hangman’s noose will never frighten those who struggle for freedom,” reaffirming their determination to continue the fight against repression despite the regime’s campaign of executions and intimidation.
Participants paid tribute to all those who have lost their lives during decades of repression and called for justice and accountability. The exhibition also highlighted the January 2026 nationwide uprising , during which, according to figures released by the PMOI/MEK , thousands of protesters were killed.
A particularly moving moment came when participants sang “Le Chant des Partisans,” the historic anthem of the French Resistance during World War II, in tribute to the members of the Iranian Resistance who continued to fight for freedom while paying a heavy price every day.

A Call for Freedom, Democracy, and Justice
Speakers and participants emphasized that, despite decades of executions, imprisonment, and systematic repression, the Iranian people and their organized Resistance remain steadfast in their struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights. They underscored the role of the Resistance Units inside Iran in challenging the ruling theocracy and rejected both the former monarchical dictatorship and the current religious dictatorship.
The Paris exhibition reaffirmed calls for accountability for past and ongoing human rights violations, expressed solidarity with the Iranian people’s pursuit of a free, democratic, and just future, and urged the international community to take a firm stand against the Iranian regime’s continued use of the death penalty as a tool of political repression.
