No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign Reaches Week 133 Across 59 Prisons in Iran

Week 133: Prisoners in 59 Iranian prisons continue hunger strike against the regime’s execution campaign.

Prisoners in 59 Iranian Prisons Continue Hunger Strike Against Executions

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has entered its 133rd consecutive week, with prisoners in 59 prisons across Iran staging a hunger strike in protest against the growing wave of executions and death sentences in the country.

According to the campaign’s statement, at least 342 people have been executed in Iran since March 21, 2026. The campaign also points to the issuance of new death sentences against detainees, including two prisoners arrested during the January uprising in Shiraz.

Participants in the campaign say the authorities are using executions and death sentences to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation and to suppress voices of protest in Iranian society. The hunger strikers expressed their appreciation for the support of civic groups and artists and called for broader public solidarity and continued protests by different sectors of society against the death penalty.

The full statement of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign follows.

342 Executions Since March 21, Including Women and Political Prisoners

In its 133rd week, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign stated that the authorities have executed at least 342 prisoners since March 21, 2026.

Among those executed are 10 women, two individuals who were children at the time of sentencing, and 37 political prisoners.

The campaign also reported that during the past week, two detainees arrested during the January uprising in Shiraz, Mojtaba Dehbandi and Kianoush Hamzei, were sentenced to death.

According to the campaign, the judicial proceedings against these two prisoners, as in the cases of many other prisoners, have been unfair and non-transparent.

Death Sentences Used to Create Fear and Suppress Protest

The campaign describes the ruling authorities as seeking to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation through executions in order to silence voices of protest across society.

During this period, the campaign says that several prisoners who protested against executions were transferred to solitary confinement, while new cases were allegedly brought against others.

The campaign also points to the opening of collective cases, including the Alikhani Square and Shohada Square cases in Isfahan, as well as cases in Shandiz and Esfarayen, followed by the issuance of death sentences or lengthy prison terms.

According to the statement, the authorities intend to use such measures to intimidate society. However, the campaign members emphasize that these measures only multiply public anger “a hundredfold.”

Campaign Thanks Artists and Calls for Wider Public Solidarity

Members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign expressed their appreciation to all sectors of society, including artists, who have supported the campaign against executions and the families of those who have been executed.

The campaign once again called on people across Iran and from all walks of life to protest the escalating executions.

It specifically urged people to take part in gatherings and protests, including actions by retirees, and to declare their continued and unwavering support for the movement against executions and the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.
