PMOI supporters rally outside Sweden’s Foreign Ministry in Stockholm to protest the execution of Shahram Sadeghi.

Stockholm, Sweden – August 16, 2026: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered outside Sweden’s Foreign Ministry to condemn the execution of Shahram Sadeghi, one of the protesters involved in the January 2026 uprising, who was executed in Iran on the same day. The demonstrators also called for an end to the execution of PMOI political prisoners and other activists detained during the January 2026 uprising.

Protesters called on the Swedish government to take decisive action against the Iranian regime over what they described as criminal executions and terrorist activities. Their demands included the closure of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Stockholm, which they described as a hub for espionage and terrorism. They also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners in Iran.

The demonstrators strongly condemned Iran’s ruling clerical regime, describing the executions as blatant violations of human rights. Participants paid tribute to the victims by holding up their photographs and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the struggle against the regime until its overthrow and the establishment of a democratic republic based on peace, freedom, and justice.

The protesters also rejected all forms of dictatorship, whether monarchical or theocratic, emphasizing their opposition to both the rule of the Shah and the current mullah-led regime. They expressed support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a democratic alternative.
