September 5, 2026: Iranian communities and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Cologne and Bremen, Germany, and Luxembourg commemorated the 61st anniversary of the founding of the PMOI, honoring the organization’s founders, Mohammad Hanifnejad, Saeid Mohsen, and Ali Asghar Badizadegan, as well as its members and supporters who have sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights in Iran.

The commemorative gatherings brought together freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance, who marked more than six decades of resistance against dictatorship and reaffirmed their commitment to the cause of a free and democratic Iran.

The events featured speeches, messages, and commemorative activities highlighting the history of the PMOI and the sacrifices made by generations of its members and supporters. Participants paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the struggle against dictatorship and emphasized the continuing importance of organized resistance for achieving democratic change in Iran.

In Cologne, Iranian community members and MEK supporters gathered to mark the anniversary and honor the founders and fallen members of the organization. The gathering also provided an opportunity to highlight the aspirations of the Iranian people for freedom, democracy, equality, and an Iran free from dictatorship.

In Bremen, supporters of the PMOI likewise commemorated the 61st anniversary, recalling the organization’s long history of resistance and the sacrifices of its members and supporters. Participants expressed their solidarity with the Iranian people and with those inside Iran who continue to oppose repression and demand fundamental political change.

A similar commemorative gathering was held in Luxembourg, where Iranian Resistance supporters marked the anniversary and paid tribute to the generations who have continued the struggle for freedom. Participants stressed the need for international support for the Iranian people’s democratic aspirations and rejected both the ruling theocracy and any return to dictatorship.

Across all three gatherings, participants emphasized that the PMOI’s 61-year history represents a continuing struggle against dictatorship and in defense of the Iranian people’s right to determine their own future.

The commemorations also highlighted the role of the Iranian diaspora in keeping alive the voice of the Iranian people abroad and in drawing international attention to the human-rights situation and political developments in Iran.

The participants reiterated their support for a democratic, secular, and free Iran and for the aspirations of the Iranian people to establish a political system based on popular sovereignty, equality, and respect for human rights.
