Participants call for an immediate halt to executions, the release of political prisoners, and accountability for regime officials while urging support for democratic change by the Iranian people.
Supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and members of the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, on October 10, 2026, marking World Day Against the Death Penalty.

Demands for Immediate End to Executions and Release of Political Prisoners

Organizers and participants called for an immediate end to executions in Iran and accountability for officials of Iran’s ruling regime. They stated that only an end to the repressive regime will bring democratic change.

Speakers and participants raised their voices for those the Iranian regime seeks to silence. Their stated demand was clear: stop executions in Iran and free political prisoners. They noted that behind every execution is a human life, a family, and a future stolen, and said they stand with prisoners facing death and with the Iranian people demanding freedom and a democratic republic. The message included “No to executions. Yes to life. Yes to a free Iran.”

Calls for Regime Change by the Iranian People and Organized Resistance

Participants also stated “No shah, no mullahs” and called on policymakers to support regime change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance. They called on free nations to establish an international mechanism to hold Iran regime officials accountable for ongoing crimes against humanity and the persecution of political dissidents.

Support for Resistance Against the IRGC-Led Regime

At the Lincoln Memorial, participants remembered freedom fighters who have lost their lives for freedom in Iran and called for the United States to recognize and support their resistance against the IRGC-led terrorist regime ruling Iran. Organizers urged policymakers to hold the Iran regime accountable for surging political executions and to provide political support for Iran’s organized resistance led by Maryam Rajavi and the PMOI Resistance Units.

Message of Freedom and Justice for All Iranians

The message from participants was described as clear: freedom and justice for all Iranians, with calls of “No to Shah, No to Mullahs, No to Executions.” Photographs and statements from the event at the Lincoln Memorial were shared by the organizers, emphasizing the location in America’s capital.
