Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), has issued a message to a conference held at the City Hall of Cuneo, Italy, praising the city’s solidarity with the Iranian people and their struggle for freedom and democracy.
She condemned the Iranian regime’s escalating use of executions against political prisoners and protesters, describing these acts as signs of weakness and instability that cannot extinguish the flames of resistance. Mrs. Rajavi also called on Italy and other European countries to make their relations with the Iranian regime conditional on ending executions and to recognize the Iranian people’s struggle for a democratic republic.

Maryam Rajavi’s Message to the Conference at the City Hall of Cuneo, Italy
If the Clerical Regime Had Any Stability, It Would Not Resort to Executions in Iran
Honorable Mayor of Cuneo,
Madam Manassero,
Honorable Senator Rampi,
Honorable mayors,
Your valuable initiative to hold this meeting sends a powerful message of solidarity to the people of Iran, who are fighting to overthrow religious dictatorship.
When our people see you, lawmakers, city council members, and mayors, here today, they know they are not alone. They see that free and noble people are standing with them.
When Ashraf, the home of resistance for PMOI members, was under a deadly siege, Cuneo stood by its side. At that time, Cuneo, the city of Resistance, declared itself the sister city of Ashraf.
Today, Cuneo stands with the people of Ashraf and with the Resistance Units. It stands with the protesters in Iran, whose blood has covered the streets, and Cuneo stands with the long line of people sentenced to death.
The Flames of Resistance Will Not Be Crushed
Since the start of the war last February, the mullahs have executed about dozens of political prisoners, including nine members of the PMOI. They have hanged dozens of protesters from the January uprising.
Many more have been sentenced to death and are awaiting execution, while thousands of protesters face deeply unfair trials and potential death sentences.
On July 1, the 25-year-old political prisoner Arghavan Fallahi was sentenced to death.
Her main charge is supporting the PMOI. This sentence violates all international judicial standards, especially because it was issued after months of inhuman torture and abuse.
The true “crime” of Arghavan, and all those executed or facing death, is that they refuse to see the Iranian people being held captive by a criminal regime.
Their crime is that they want an end to the misogynistic dictatorship that oppresses and humiliates Iranian women every single day.
If this regime had any stability, it would not resort to these executions.
However, these atrocities will not save them from being overthrown. Nor can they terrorize Iranian society, especially the brave youth. They cannot discourage the people who are fighting for a democratic republic. They cannot crush the flames of resistance.
Clerical Regime Faces an Explosive Society
Today, more than ever, Resistance Units are striking against the centers of repression. Rebellious youth have risen to confront the Revolutionary Guard Corps. Workers, students, nurses, and retirees are expanding their protests.
The mullahs have committed countless crimes to stay in power; from the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 to the repeated slaughter of protesters during recent uprisings. These very crimes are certain proof that this regime will be overthrown.
This is especially true because, despite all this repression, an organized resistance continues to advance inside the cities of Iran.
The city of Cuneo—with its 15,000 martyrs during the Second World War—is an example of the victory of people’s resistance.
Today, our people are resisting to save and liberate their country, fighting for a future where there is no room for either religious or monarchical dictatorship.
I want to express my gratitude to the City of Cuneo for organizing this meeting. I thank the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) in Cuneo and the Association of Iranian Physicians for their support.

Europe Needs to Be Firm against the Threat to Global Peace and Security
Last July, a majority of lawmakers in the Italian Parliament and Senate issued a call to stop executions in Iran. They declared that supporting the provisional government announced by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) is an essential step toward establishing democracy in Iran, as well as achieving peace and coexistence in the region and the world.
Indeed, this is the correct European policy vis-à-vis a regime that is a threat to global peace and security.
Today, the clerical regime is weaker than ever, desperate, and without solutions.
It stands on the verge of being overthrown but covers up its situation with propaganda and disinformation campaigns.
The policy of appeasement has used this deception as an excuse to continue dealing with the regime.
In truth, there is only one solution to the disasters this regime causes for Iran, the region, and the world—and that is its overthrow by the people of Iran and their organized resistance.
Now, I hope the Italian government will make its relations with the ruling dictatorship in Iran conditional on stopping executions.
It is time for Italy and the entire world to recognize the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the regime, as well as the fight of our rebellious youth against the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
