A show of solidarity and an effort to raise awareness aimed at drawing attention to the human rights situation in Iran and supporting the struggle for freedom, democracy and an end to executions. On Friday, October 23, a meeting entitled “No to Executions, Yes to Supporting the Iranian Resistance” was held in the Hall of Honors at Cuneo City Hall, bringing together institutional representatives, local officials and guests actively engaged in the issue.

The initiative was organized with the support and cooperation of the Municipality of Cuneo, the Cuneo chapter of the ANPI (National Association of Italian Partisans), and the Association of Iranian Doctors and Pharmacists Residing in Italy. The meeting focused on denouncing repression and the death penalty in Iran, while calling for the protection of fundamental rights and the Iranian people’s right to self-determination.

Among those thanked by the organizers were Cuneo Mayor Patrizia Manassero and Igor Lanzo, vice president of the provincial ANPI organization in Cuneo, who also conveyed a message of solidarity from Antonio Ciaramella, president of the association’s local chapter.

Several local mayors and officials attended the event, including Alessandro Dacomo (Mayor of Castelletto Stura), Enzo Garnerone (Mayor of Cervasca), Ivano Airaldi (Mayor of Farigliano), Matteo Ravera (Mayor of Boves) and Roberta Robbione (Mayor of Borgo San Dalmazzo), along with Deputy Mayor Dario Lingua of Margarita and Councillor Andrea Mattio of Roaschia. The meeting was also attended by Senator Roberto Rampi and city councillors Claudia Carli, Enrica Di Ielsi and Nadia Martini, as well as Alberto Valmaggia, a former mayor of Cuneo.

Music also played a part in the event, with performances by singer Anna Petracca and guitarist Fabrizio Veglia.

A particularly notable contribution came through a video message from Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which added further significance to the initiative. The organizers also expressed their gratitude to Mahmoud Hakamian, a member of the NCRI’s Foreign Affairs Committee, for his participation.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm solidarity with the Iranian people and emphasize the need to keep international attention focused on repression, executions and the protection of human rights. The event concluded with a call for a free, democratic and secular Iran founded on the separation of religion and state.

“No to Executions, Yes to the Iranian Resistance” was the slogan that accompanied the event, with the hope that the solidarity expressed in Cuneo would help keep the Iranian people’s demands for freedom and democracy in the international spotlight.
