“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues in 66 Prisons Across Iran in Its 145th Week

Prisoners in 66 Iranian prisons join the 145th week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign.
Prisoners in 66 Iranian prisons join the 145th week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign.

UN human rights experts and international organizations express solidarity with the campaign as executions surge across Iran; at least 25 prisoners were executed in the first six days of Aban.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the statement marking the 145th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign highlighted a growing wave of support and solidarity from prominent international figures and institutions. It emphasized that the endorsement and participation of two UN human rights experts—Ms. Andrea Bolanos Vargas, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, and Ms. Ana Lorena Delgadillo, a member of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances—as well as the condemnation of escalating executions by Alexis Anagnostakis, President of the Human Rights Committee of the European Criminal Bar Association, and the Human Rights Office of Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflect the growing international revulsion toward the death penalty in Iran.

The era of medieval punishments is over. The international community, standing in solidarity with the Iranian people, is united in demanding the right to life, freedom, and human dignity.

Previously, other UN human rights experts, including Ms. Gina Romero and Mr. Leopoldo Maldonado, along with several other prominent figures, had also expressed their support for the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.

At Least 25 Prisoners Executed in Six Days Across Iran

Nevertheless, the machinery of repression and execution continues to claim lives in Iran. In the first six days of Aban (October 23–28), at least 25 prisoners were executed. Twenty-two of them were hanged on October 27 and 28 alone.

Death Sentences Against Political Prisoners Must Be Condemned

The statement also addresses the continued issuance of death sentences against political prisoners by the regime’s judiciary. Emphasizing the urgent need to amplify protests against the brutal executions carried out by Iran’s clerical dictatorship, it states:

“Without defending the right to life, defending other human rights has no meaning. ‘No to Execution’ must be placed at the forefront of every demand, slogan, and protest movement. Our hopes rest with the courageous people of Iran.”

Prisoners Vow to Continue Their Resistance Against Executions

We, the prisoners participating in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, declare that neither threats nor death sentences will silence our protests against this inhumane punishment.

We demand the immediate annulment of all death sentences and a complete halt to the machinery of execution in Iran.
