There is an alternative to foreign intervention and the policy of appeasement, and that is the third option set forth by Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI
London- July 27th
On July 27th Anglo-Iranians will come together in London to call for a firm policy vis-à-vis the Iranian regime. At a time where the Iranian regime continues to increase it’s meddling in the region and terror plots in Europe while increasing suppression inside the country in hopes of preventing its final downfall, it is dire that the international community stand by the Iranian people.
In recent months, in effort to curb rising unrest the regime has incepted Raisi, renowned for his role in the 1988 massacre as part of the death committees, as the new Chief Justice, which has led to a new wave of suppression and a sharp increase in harsh sentences including a executions, long-term sentences and torture.
Iranians will once more gather to draw the attention of the international community to the human rights situation in Iran.
The Free Iran Rallies in major capitals is taking place at a time where the Iranian regime is facing one of the most critical junctures it has faced in decades; with the designation of the IRGC on the US terror list, ongoing social unrests throughout the nation, and the collapse of Iran’s economy with the new wave of sanctions, particularly the embargo on Iran’s oil exports. These developments have led to a surge in the immense issues the Iranian regime has come face to face with, which has also led to an evident rise in defection in the hierarchy of the IRGC and its proxies.
In Iran’s modern history, June has come to represent the month of resistance in face of tyranny. Free Iran rallies will also commemorate June 20, the day of Martyrs and Political Prisoners in Iran. On June 20, 1981, Khomeini opened fire on the peaceful protest of over 500,000 supporters of the MEK in Tehran, taking away the last drops of freedom available in Iran’s society after the revolution. Hundreds were killed on the spot by the IRGC and thousands sent to the gallows that night, some without even being identified or their names being known, their images were aired on national television asking their parents to come and identify their bodies, the reign of terror had begun. Rallies and gathering which will be held in other major capitals will be announced here on Iran Freedom as they become available to the public.
