Iranian Youth Association in Switzerland writes letter to NBC, condemning propaganda against MEK 

Last week, NBC published an article by former State Department official Daniel Benjamin, which contained false allegations against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the main Iranian opposition movement. The article drew widespread condemnations by Iranian communities across the world. In a letter to the editor of NBC The Iranian Youth Association in Switzerland criticized the spreading of propaganda that only serves the interests of the tyrannical mullahs’ regime ruling Iran.  

The Youth Association of Switzerland stressed the wide support for the MEK inside Iran and abroad, and reminded NBC of its responsibility in publishing true material. The full text of the letter by the Iranian Youth Association of Switzerland follows: 

The article (NBC, October 17, 2019) which Daniel Benjamin wrote against the MEK, are debunked allegations against the main Iranian opposition group. With such articles you just give a voice to Iranian regime apologists. People like Daniel Benjamin prepare the ground by repeating MOIS lies against the MEK. To slander the MEK, this article resorts to raising the terror label – without mentioning that courts in UK, EU & US have all found no basis for the label and have attested to it being a political move made to appease the mullahs. In the last four decades the MEK have continuously enjoyed bipartisan support, not only in the US but around the world, due to their ideals, goals and ambitions, from prominent personalities, to elected officials from members of Congress to MPs.  

Why would an organisation that lacks social support be regime’s main existential problem? Daniel Benjamin is accusing the MEK that their financial sources are a “big question and mysterious”. Iran lobbyists as like Daniel Benjamin, are saying that because they are rejecting the support of the Iranian people, which supplies the funding of the MEK. 

The Iranian Youth Association in Switzerland is asking you to stop spreading fake news. You are insulting people who are standing for human rights and a free Iran. The MEK is standing for values like democracy, equality and freedom of speech and as a western media it is shameful that you are going hand in hand with murderers.
