Iranian-Canadians, supporters of MEK rally in North York after death of Qassem Soleimani

Iranian-Canadians, supporters of MEK rally in North York after death of Qassem Soleimani

CP24, a Canadian News Network gave coverage to a protest by the Iranian-Canadians and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq or the MEK, in Toronto’s North York, celebrating the death of the Iranian regime’s notorious General Qassem Soleimani, on Friday.

This rally happened at around the same time with a dozen similar rallies of the MEK supporters and Iranians across the world.

Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force, the foreign branch of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Abu-Mehdi-Al Muhandis, deputy chief of Iraq’s Tehran-backed Hashd al-Shaabi (PMF), were killed in an airstrike by the United States in Iraq on Friday.

“Several dozen Iranian-Canadians danced and cheered in Toronto on Friday as they celebrated the death of a top general in their home country,” read the report.

“For those who showed up to dance in a square in north Toronto Friday afternoon, Soleimani’s death marked what they hoped would be a re-birth for Iran. Chants of ‘regime change in Iran by the people of Iran’ and ‘we support uprising in Iran’ rang out at the rally,” the report added.

CP24 quoted one of the participants of the Iranian-Canadians and the MEK supporters’ rally in Toronto saying, “We are in a great world now after Soleimani’s elimination,” “I feel wonderful because we really think this is long overdue,” CP24 quoted Hamid Gharajeh, a spokesman for the Iran Democratic Association of Canada.

Other participants of the Iranian Canadians and the MEK supporters’ rally told CP24 they hope Soleimani’s death will expedite regime change in Iran.

“We want peace in the region, not terrorism,” Sara Fallah, the director of the International Coalition of Women Against Fundamentalism, told the CP24.

“Anyone who cares about human rights should be against terrorism and celebrating the death of Soleimani,” she added, expressing her happiness along with other participants of Iranian-Canadians and the MEK’s supporters rally in the Toronto.

“I was so happy to see this man killed,” Behzad Matin told the CP24. “I have to tell you, I had the greatest sleep last night,” he added.

Background:

Qassem Soliemani, head of the mullahs’ extraterritorial terrorist attacks, was killed at around 1 am local time in Baghdad, Iraq on Friday, January 3. U.S. forces carried out a drone airstrike targeting two vehicles transferring Soliemani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes. Both were killed along with ten other companions and bodyguards.
