Protest in Austira in solidarity with Coronavirus outbreak victims in Iran
Iranians, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in Vienna, Austria, held a rally in solidarity with the victims of the Coronavirus outbreak in Iran and protested regime’s inaction and incapability in handling the situation.
The MEK and NCRI’s supporters gathered in front of the United Nation’s office in Vienna. This protest was held despite the extremely cold weather.
The participants of the event, while expressing their solidarity with the family members of the Coronavirus outbreak’s victims in Iran declared that the regime’s inaction and efforts to downplay this crisis caused the rapid spread of this virus across Iran and has turned Iran to the epicenter of COVID-19.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced that over 1800 people have lost their lives from Coronavirus as of Friday, March 6.
The rapid Coronavirus outbreak in Iran and its transmission to other countries around the world is the result of weeks-long cover-ups, lies, and misleading information to the public.
The freedom-loving Iranians in Austria chanted slogans against the regime’s criminal cover-up and inaction, particularly those of the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei’s and his criminal downplaying of the Coronavirus outbreak. They said: “Khamenei, you are the real virus,” and “Down with Khamenei, viva Rajavi.” The MEK supporters also held a banner which read: “Outbreak of Coronavirus in prisons endanger lives of political prisoners and detained protests in Iran. Maryam Rajavi [NCRI’s president-elect] urges world community ti take prompt action to save lives of the prisoners.”
The participants also urged the United Nations and the World Health Organization to oversee sending of aids to Iran.
MEK supporters also called for the immediate medical care for the prisoners diagnosed with this deadly virus and condemned regime’s inaction in taking care of them.
