Iran Freedom

Newt Gingrich, Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Addresses the Free Iran 2022

Newt Gingrich, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives From 1995 to 1999

Excerpts of speech of Newt Gingrich, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives From 1995 to 1999, at the Free Iran 2022, is as follows:

Let me begin by thanking Mrs. Maryam Rajavi for once again continuing to lead the cause of freedom, the cause of peace, and the cause of a modern Iran, with everyone liberated and leading forwards. As all of you know, I’ve worked with and followed the MEK for years.

I am so proud of the way the movement is growing, the degree to which inside Iran there are now more and more centers of resistance, some of the very amazing technological achievements taking over various cameras, for example, or taking over radio stations or broadcasting a message from Mrs. Rajavi.

It’s remarkable how far the movement has come, and it’s remarkable how many Iranians are finally fed up with the regime and want change. I do want to take a minute and say that I think it’s profoundly wrong for the country of Belgium to sell out the cause of freedom, to sell out the opportunity to continue to isolate the Iranian dictatorship. And I think that it’s very short-sighted. And in the long run, we’ll come back to hurt Belgium. I wish that they would withdraw the treaty they’ve agreed to.

I wish that their parliament would reject this kind of appeasement, because I do think the more firm, we are, the better off we are. I also have to say that it’s very sad to me, as an American, to have an American administration as totally out of touch with the real world as the Biden administration is. The truth is, we have an opportunity to really change the dictatorship.

We have an opportunity to help the people of Iran lead lives that are free, that are independent, and that allow them to be part of the larger world of nations. Every step that’s taken to appease and to strengthen the dictatorship is a step towards war, a step towards tyranny, and a step away from freedom.

So, I want to commend all of you who are involved with the MEK, who are involved with a movement that represents the best hope of freedom in Iran and through that, the best hope of having a non-nuclear Iran. And I do believe if we will continue. If we will keep the faith. If we will push and push and push. We are going to find that the dictatorship will ultimately collapse.

That people will ultimately turn their back on it. And that, in fact, we will have a free Iran integrated into the larger world. Living in peace with its neighbors.
And giving every young Iranian a chance to have a far better future. You are a part of that experience, and I thank you for being involved in this. And I look forward to being helpful in any way that I can.
