Excerpts of the speech of Baroness Margaret Eaton, Member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, at the Free Iran 2022, is as follows:

Madam President, dear colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure and a great honour to join you today for the Free Iran World Summit.

The regime in Tehran is hoping that ongoing international and domestic crises will distract the United Kingdom and the west from the fact that it is advancing to acquire nuclear weapons, is exporting terrorism and is maintaining power by heavy crackdowns on popular protests and repression.

But the Iranian Resistance Movement and its President, Madame Mariyam Rajavi, are doing a great job of reminding the world of the serious threats the regime poses to the Iranian people and the international community.

There is a viable democratic alternative and strong grassroots support inside Iran and among Iranian diaspora ready and capable to change Iran for the better.

What is unique about this democratic alternative is the fact that he is led by women and has an articulated ten point platform for the future of Iran that is based on the Iranian people’s democratic aspirations.

This democratic alternative is deserving of our support. They are our best allies, give voice to the Iranian women and are standing up to the regime by making enormous personal sacrifices. I call on the United Kingdom government and other Western governments to recognise and support the National Council of Resistance of Iran and its President-elect, Madame Rajavi.

The Iranian people and their resistance are the ones who will shape Iran’s future, and they have a real Iranian solution. It is time we in the United Kingdom and democratic world recognise that and stand with them to hold the regime and its leading and its leaders to account for human rights violations and terrorism and nuclear provocations.

Many of my colleagues and I in the United Kingdom House of Lords and the United Kingdom House of Commons are supporting you and are standing with you until Iran is free. So thank you and very best greetings and success to you all.
