Iranian People’s Democratic Revolution Photo Exhibition in US Senate

Iranian People's Democratic Revolution Photo Exhibition in US Senate

On April 12, 2023, equivalent to the 200th day of the Iranian people’s uprising, the US Senate displayed an emotionally moving photograph exhibition depicting the martyrs of the Iranian people’s democratic revolution.

The exhibition featured images of young men and women who lost their lives during the uprising, and it was attended by advisors to senators and staff from various professional committees.

Ms. Shirin Nariman, a former political prisoner who supports the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Dr. Zahra Sadeghpour, a family member of a martyr and political prisoner of the Mojahedin, and Ms. Batul Zamani, the head of the Iranian community in Georgia, were among the notable speakers at the exhibition. The event was a powerful testimony to the courage and resilience of those who fought for a better future in Iran.

Ms. Batul Zamani expressed her appreciation to the senators for supporting the Iranian people’s uprising and providing a venue to display the exhibition of the martyrs’ photos.
She highlighted that the Iranian regime seeks to silence the voices of those who rise up against it, but the exhibition sends a powerful message that not only has the regime failed, but the US Senate also honors the memory and names of the martyrs.

Ms. Nariman reflected on the ongoing revolution, which is the result of more than four decades of resistance by thousands of Mojahedin and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to reject the mullahs’ oppressive regime. She expressed pride in seeing that the voices and messages of girls and young people from the Iranian uprising have now reached the US Senate.

Dr. Sadeghpour expressed her pride in seeing how the blood of her brothers and sisters, who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Iran, now flows in the determination and rage of the defiant youths.

She emphasized how this new generation of Iranian youth is following the same path and rejecting any form of dictatorship while chanting, “Death to the oppressor, whether the Shah or the [supreme] leader.” She emphasized that the main goal of the youths is the freedom and prosperity of Iran.

Overall, the exhibition in the US Senate reflects the same voice of the Iranian people, who continue to resist and fight for a better future despite the regime’s efforts to silence them.

It was a display of the courage and resilience of the young men and women who lost their lives during the uprising, and their memory will always remain alive in the hearts of the people who attended the exhibition.
