The full text of Pavel Popescu, MP From Romania, follows:
It’s an honor to be here today, and I am here to speak the truth because I believe it is our duty. The truth is that a nuclear deal with Iran is already a shattered dream, and we must acknowledge and believe in this reality.
The truth is that if we do not take sanctions against Iran and Russia seriously, we will never prevail.
Another truth is that the hypocrisy present in the Western world, where we only speak about human rights when it serves our specific goals, needs to stop. This is the truth. Someone once said that all the abdicated responsibility will one day be taken by tyrants and criminal regimes and used against us.
As a young politician coming from a former Communist country that had a criminal regime 33 years ago, I stand here today to tell you that I, like all of you, have a duty to never abdicate our responsibility to fight for the freedom of the people of Iran until the day they achieve it. This is our duty.
I truly believe that this fight must be a collective effort because only together can we succeed. There is no country on this earth big enough to go it alone, and there is no country too small to not be able to make a difference.
People of Iran, I want to tell you one thing: Do not lose hope. We Romanians never lost hope, and we are now free from communism. The day of freedom will come soon for you because we will never abdicate our responsibility to fight for that day.
