In an official statement, the Swiss Committee for Democracy and Secularity in Iran (CSDSI) has expressed serious apprehensions regarding recent developments related to the Iranian regime’s repression of opposition figures, particularly focusing on the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and its alarming intentions to target dissidents in Europe.
As outlined in the CSDSI statement, the Iranian regime, driven by concerns about potential uprisings and international scrutiny of its actions, has escalated its campaign to vilify the PMOI/MEK. The regime’s judiciary has formally charged 104 members of the organization, baselessly accusing them of engaging in terrorist activities. This aggressive stance illustrates the regime’s desperation to stifle opposition and potentially facilitate acts of terrorism on European soil.
The CSDSI calls upon the European Union and international organizations to condemn the actions of Tehran, which not only result in increased internal executions but also pose a threat to opposition members residing abroad. As the regime intensifies its aggressive posture, the statement concludes by emphasizing the critical importance of international solidarity and accountability in safeguarding human rights, democracy, and justice.
