Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a free and democratic Iran
Ten years ago, in a meeting at the Council of Europe, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), announced Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Planto bring Iran into the 21stCentury. The numbered list can be found on the NCRI’s website but here it will be broken down into related sections.
Democracy
Number one on Maryam Rajavi’s list is an essential component of democracy, universal suffrage. Maryam Rajavi and the Iranian Resistance as a whole believe that the ballot box is the only legitimate method of choosing a government, which is why everyone should have the vote.
They also recognise the important role of checks and balances played by both other political parties and the media, which is why they would allow complete freedom of expression and of the media. It is also why they would allow unrestricted access to the internet.
Maryam Rajavi also wishes to separate religion from state and introduce a secular government which means that the mullahs’ Sharia law will be abolished.
They would appoint independent judges and set up a modern legal system based on the presumption of innocence, the right to a defence, and the right to be tried in a public court
Human Rights
Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan is committed to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the international conventions on human rights including civil and political rights, the Convention against Torture, and the elimination of discrimination against women.
One of their biggest commitments to human rights is the abolition of the death penalty, another is their wish for complete gender equality.
Maryam Rajavi wants women to be able to take positions of power in political, social and economic arenas and they will also ban discrimination of women.
In Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, women will have laws protecting their rights to dress how they wish, speak to whom they wish and go where they wish. They will be free to marry, to divorce, to be educated and to be employed.
They will also protect ethnic and religious minorities in their country like the Kurds and the Christians, from any form of discrimination.
They would also ensure equal opportunity in employment for every Iranian citizen, allowing them to hold private property, investments and businesses.
Peace will show a peaceful Iran, with a foreign policy based on cooperation and coexistence, which follows the United Nation Charter.
One of their biggest commitments to peace, not only in the Middle East but globally is shutting down all nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
A grand gathering will take place in Paris on July 9, for all members and supporters of the Iranian resistance. It will be attended by world leaders, policy makers, journalists and religious leaders to support the resistance and find solutions to the current Iranian government.

Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a free and democratic Iran Helps Sufferers Of The Islamic Republic Voice Their Suffering
On the 9th of July, Farzad Madadzadeh will be joining a huge demonstration to be able to help his fellow Iranian expatriates, along with international supporters to be able to show his support for freeing Iran.
The rally will be held in Paris, and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has hosted such events for over a decade now.
It is very significant and helps to highlight important issues internationally. For him, it is a spiritual event. Along with a larger crowd he will be able to stand up to the regime that has plagued him for life.
There are huge numbers of Iranians that are still suffering from the ruler of the country and despite this; they will still risk getting caught watching the event as is takes place on pirated satellite channels that are currently banned in the country.
The regime does not allow outside press that demonstrates democracy and oppression against the current Mullah.
He has watched politics take place from a safer place. An ideology that makes people believe that Islamic Republic are not part of the world, and in years gone by he has showed his support for supporters of the NCRI and the Peoples Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK).
They act from a secret location Iran. His safety, and his freedom were put on the line and a lot of his fellow colleagues participated in protests too. Farzad Madadzadeh was imprisoned for a total of five years, between 2009 and 2014, and has also received extreme torture, both psychologically and physically as a result of supporting the PMOI. When he turned 29 last year, he fled the country never to look back again.
The repression is aggressive and he never lost hope that the system would be cleared of the strong clerical rule that is in place at the moment. Farzad Madadzadeh has dedicated his time to trying to overthrow the regime and supporters that are too.
This year a lot of global policy makers will be there at the Free Iran Rally in Paris on the 9th July, and they will slowly be waking people up to the fact that the regime in Iran needs to be replaced.
He is happy that American and European politicians will be able to listen to what is happening, and will also be in attendance at the event.
The message? That a moderate Iranian government is not possible under the current regime. He believes that western support will swell, and that in time things will get better.
This year’s event is taking place almost a year after nuclear negotiations were set in place with the country and P5+1. It’s a great chance for those that take Western policies to be able reevaluate the impact that the Joint Comprehensive plan of action is having, and the general strategies of conciliation.
They will indeed be present at the Free Iran event and know that it lacks considerably. Some westerners say that Hassan Rouhani can lead the country but this is not realistic.
Foreign aggression and domestic repression are not able to change under Rouhani. Activists, dissidents, artists and the like are commonly sent to jail or forced out of Iran.
The same applies to the refugee crisis that is rapidly escalating as a result of the Al- Assad regime.
