Remarks by Ralph Norman–Iran Regime’s Terrorism Summit, July 20, 2020

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)  was held a global seminar on the Iranian regime’s terrorist operations during the third day of the “Free Iran Global Summit” on, July 20, 2020.

The conference under title, Terrorism by Iran’s Regime -Shut Down Tehran’s Embassies Abroad-Expel its Agents, Operatives, was held online, connecting thousands of locations throughout the world to Ashraf 3, Albania, home to the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). This conference is over the Iranian regime’s terrorist activities across the world, by using its embassies. The conference and its panelists urged the European countries to shut down the Iranian regime’s embassies, which are indeed emissaries of terror and nests of spies. The keynote speaker of this event is Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI’s President-elect.

The theme of the conference was the Iranian regime’s international terrorist activities. Participants called on the international community to shut down the regime’s embassies and expel its ‘diplomat-terrorists’.

Rep. Ralph Norman, United States Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district joined the Online Free Iran Global Summitday 3. In his remarks, Mr. Norman said, “Here in Congress, we have taken important steps to support the pro-democracy movement.  This includes House Resolution 752, supporting the rights of people of Iran to free expression and condemning the Iranian regime for its crackdown on legitimate protest.”

Here is the speech of Mr. Norman:

I’m United States Congressman, Ralph Norman, representing South Carolina’s 5th district in the House of Representatives.  Today, I am very proud to affirm my support for you, the Iranian community, here in the United States and the freedom loving Iranians around the world.

Democracy is a treasure that must be fought for and defended every day of every year for each and every generation.  Over the last three and a half years, American has returned to the international stage with a renewed sense of patriotism and purpose.  Our love of freedom at home is reflected abroad by our actions and steadfast support for freedom loving Iranians.

We have seen this more clearly in Iran policy than anywhere else around the world as we have replaced the treaty, known as Iran Nuclear Deal with sanctions on the regime of terror and its agents.

I am deeply saddened and troubled to learn of the terrible fate suffered by the protesters in Iran who have had the courage to fight and stand against the cult leading this once proud nation.  This is why I’m proud to oppose to the regime and support the brave people of Iran who yearn for freedom.

Here in Congress, we have taken important steps to support the pro-democracy movement.  This includes House Resolution 752, supporting the rights of people of Iran to free expression and condemning the Iranian regime for its crackdown on legitimate protest.  This is a bill that I strongly support with many of my colleagues in Congress.  We must not forget that the Iranian government’s hatred of liberty is not just domestic but is part of the regime’s global network of terror.  Its hostile and inhumane actions are an affront to human life and dignity, and one that I will continue to oppose.

In closing, I want to reaffirm my solid support to the Iranian people.  Remember, the fireworks that fill the sky all across American in celebration of the 4th of July is a beacon of hope to the oppressed people around the world.  Iran, too, will have its Independence Day, and I pray it will be very soon.  God bless each and every one of you, and thank you for your willingness to stand for freedom.
