The mullahs’ nightmare: Student protests; the continuation of 2018 uprising
On the anniversary of the anti-government protests which started in Dec. 2017, student protests in Tehran shocked the oppressive regime of the Islamic Republic, which has seen not a day without protest during the last year. Last week, the nicknamed “Death Bus” accident in Tehran killed 10 students of Tehran’s Islamic Azad University, Science & Research department. Under the Iranian regime, death is tangled with the everyday life of this nation.
Demonstration and Protest of Azad University Students for the Second Consecutive Day
Following the student protests against campus bus crash, the students at the University of Tehran also held a protest which extensively enjoyed the support of people in joining them. Protestors at Tehran University chanted: “We turn our backs to the enemy, and our faces to the motherland,” “Have no fear, we’re all together,” “Incompetent person in charge, resign, resign.”
Student protests took place despite the fact that Hossein Ashtari, the chief commander of regime’s SSF (Suppressive Security Forces), has said: “Any gathering needs to obtain a permit from the Ministry of Interior.” But the Islamic Republic has never permitted any protest gathering in its history.
Why the student protests is the continuation of 2018 uprising?
On Sunday, December 30th, students from Tehran’s Azad University of Science and Research protested for the second consecutive day in protest of the loss of their 10 classmates during a bus accident.
Since Khomeini took power in Iran, this country has faced many uprisings, insurgencies and revolts, but the Iran uprising of December 2017 was the greatest challenge that Iran’s theocracy has ever faced.
The ire directed at the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the mullahs regime as a whole, has been astonishing.
Student protests and the strike and protests of truckers, educators, workers, marketers, retirees, and farmers have proved that the Iran uprising will continue, and definitely, by weakening of the regime’s system and the collapse of its economy, we will be witnessing a surge in protests and strikes in 2019 taking the uprising to a new peak.
But even if the uprising ends today, one step has been taken forward in the struggle to achieve a democratic and popular government. A line has been crossed. There’s no going back.
The wall of fear has collapsed: Not only Iran’s theocracy has lost its legitimacy, but it has also lost its control over people despite its violence.
Will 2019 carry a message of revolution for Iran?
Protesters of all strata have taken into the streets of Iran, making it clear that the theocratic regime of Iran has no future. All dictatorships will be overthrown because they have no popular support. Therefore, the question is not whether a regime change will happen. The question is when it will happen.
The regime has already collapsed in its content and it will soon collapse in its entirety.
Khamenei and Rouhani may blame foreign enemies for the rebellion, but their enemies are the hungry and oppressed people of Iran and their organized resistance with its core, the PMOI/MEK.
They have repeatedly acknowledged that the PMOI/MEK plays a key role in the organized anti-regime protests.
Just a few days after the uprising began last year, the regime’s President Hassan Rouhani, without mentioning any name, called on France to limit the activities of its opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) with the leadership of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei said in a televised speech in Qom that the MEK was responsible for “leading” the uprisings. Khamenei said that the MEK “has been ready for months … They have organized since several months ago, and met various people; to select some people inside the country, find them and help them, so they would come and call [for uprising]. … They managed to attract some people with this slogan (No to starvation) and then, they would come to the scene and pursue their goals, making the people follow them.”
The PMOI has turned the Iranian cities into a real battlefield between the mullahs and their arch-enemy by its resistance units. Resistance units have awakened the people.
Now the voices of the oppressed and the hungry people, who have been under the oppression of the mullahs for forty years are being heard from all over Iran. So the regime’s overthrow is a decisive fact and there is no escape.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, speaks of such a day and the end of Velayat-e faqih in Iran:
“Our response to the clerical regime’s Supreme Leader is that divine verdict will certainly be carried out and that verdict is the overthrow of the velayat-e faqih regime. You can count on it!”
