Designating the IRGC, trembling the Velayat-e-Faqih regime
Designating Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is a major blow to an apparatus that its mission is to maintain the Velayat-e-Faqih regime.
On Monday, April 19, following the US announcement on designating the IRGC, the senior Iranian officials reacted to the act:
“American plots against the IRGC, Iran and the revolution is her own fantasy, but such evil acts will backfire,” said Khamenei in a meeting with a group of IRGC members and their families on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, according to his official website.
“The ‘global obstinacy’ is trying to cover up its failures versus Iranian people by labelling the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as terrorists,” Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday. (The state-run IRNA news agency- April 9, 2019)
According to IRNA, the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was the first government official who reacted to the IRGC’s terrorist designation, asking President Rouhani on Monday, April 8, 2019, to add U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), to Iran’s terror list.
Also in reaction, all the regime’s MPs wore IRGC uniforms and attended the regime’s parliament, revealing their true nature. Even regime’s domestic anchors and overseas affiliated anchors dressed as such, or in the IRGC’s uniform color.
Other Iranian officials have also made empty threats in their saber-rattling. In a speech at Friday Prayers, General Kioumars Heydari, attacked the U.S. decision to designate the IRGC as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” and said that the Americans have inflicted an injury upon themselves by this decision. “I mean that they have put in danger the security of their own forces around the world, especially the CENTCOM forces”.
Israeli officials have acknowledged carrying out hundreds of strikes against weapons convoys and Iranian targets in Syria. However, the Iranian regime never responded, a piece of evidence that all these offensive reactions by the regime’s officials are just bluffing to boost its forces’ morale.
In fact, designating the IRGC is the fruit of a long battle between the Iranian opposition, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the mullahs’ regime.
It is the result of tireless efforts of the MEK and the resistance of the Iranian people against the religious fascism. Recent changes in U.S. policy has entered the IRGC en route a path that it should have been driven into many years ago. This designation along with the activities of Resistance Units (MEK network inside Iran) will pave the way for continuous uprisings which will eventually lead to the regime’s overthrow.
