Former Iranian political prisoner condemns NBC’s propaganda against MEK

An article by the NBC news website, in which the publication repeated the lies of the Iranian regime about the main opposition movement People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), has caused outrage among Iranian communities and activists across the world. Many have written to the publication and expressed their disgust at the repetition of the lies of the Iranian regime. In a letter to the editor of NBC, former Iranian political prisoner and human rights activist Jamshid Adhami criticized the spreading of propaganda that only serves the interests of the tyrannical mullahs’ regime ruling Iran. The full text of the letter follows:

My name is Jamshid Adhami, I am writing you on behalf of Iranian ex political prisoner Alliance UK Branch

In July 1934, the Storm er newspaper published an article which read “Who is the enemy?”. This article blamed the Jews and claimed while the whole world want peace, they are the ones who want war.

Today the whole world know that the reason to publish those type of articles against dissidents of Fascism in Storm er was to ease the way to kill and exterminate millions of innocent people in the following years.

Even though the ominous goals of Hitler were not apparent for the whole world to see in those years, the publications like Storm er, which were in favor of Fascism, would not dare to openly publicize Hitler. Instead they would target the dissidents of him, in order to justify his killings and crimes for the rest of the world.

Today while the Iranian regime is globally known as the banker of global terrorism, the biggest state-distributor of narcotics, the safe heaven for the international terrorists including Al-Qaida, ISIS, and tens of other terrorist networks, the worst hostage-taker regime, and the biggest violator of human rights, obviously directly defending it would be considered foolish. Therefore, the ministry of intelligence of the regime decided that the best way to serve the regime is not to defend it, but to bash and demonize the MEK which is its biggest dissident.

We, as former political prisoners of the Iranian regime, are fully familiar with the slanders and lies that Daniel Benjamin spreads against the MEK. Because telling these lies and slanders during confession TV-programs in Iran, which were run by the ministry of intelligence, were the most important term, specified by jailers, to avoid more tortures and even execution. However, hundreds of thousands of us preferred tortures, imprisonments and even execution over cooperating with the regime by parroting their lies.

There is not a single fair and well-informed Iran expert who won’t admit that the regime is scared about popularity of the MEK. The regime through its suppressive forces silence any sound in support of the MEK inside the country, and demonize the MEK outside the country through their lobbyists and apologists, like Benjamin.

Although we will never forget the role of the Iranian regime’s lobbyists and apologists, but does the editor of the NBC know the fate of the editor of Storm er? The Nuremberg court charged him for crime against humanity and concluded that his articles were just like appeals for killing dissidents and Jews.

The community of political prisoners of Iran believes that the published hit-piece at the NBC against the largest organization against the terrorist regime in Iran acts as an appeal for more killing of dissidents and freedom-seekers in Iran and legitimize terrorist actions against them in abroad, and reserve its right to sue the editor of the publication.

With regards

Former Iranian political prisoner Jamshid Adhami
