Iranian human rights activist condemns NBC's smear campaign against MEK

Following the publication of a flawed article by the NBC news website, in which the publication repeated the lies of the Iranian regime about the main opposition movement People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) Iranian communities and activists across the world have been expressing their disgust and outrage. In a letter to the editor of NBC, Iranian human rights activist and university lecturer Hasan Kalantar criticized the spreading of propaganda that only serves the interests of the tyrannical mullahs’ regime ruling Iran. The full text of the letter follows:

I am a university lecturer leaving in London for the past 40 years. Iranian regime for the past 40 years ruled Iran with an Iron fist and any one has raised against them brutally eliminated.

Main opposition in Iran is MEK. They have been champion of democracy and freedom in Iran. 120,000 of their members and supporters were executed for the last 40 year including 30,000 prisoners in 1988

Iranian regime has been continuously spreading false propaganda against MEK in order to discredit its main democratic opposition.

MEK enjoys wide spread support inside and outside in Iran. Their annual event in Paris attracts 100,000 people and hundreds of politicians from all over the world.

I would like to raise my deep concern regarding your biased  article on 17 Oct 2019 and hope the false propaganda by Iranian regime does not effect NBC professionalism.

Regards
