Ukrainian Plane Crash in Iran and Litigation by the Victims

The Iranian regime did not ban passenger flights in those circumstances(January 2020), which led to the firing of the IRGC missiles and the downing of a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 passengers.

Following the elimination of Qassem Soleimani, the mullahs’ regime fired several rockets at the US Ain al-Assad base in Iraq on January 8, 2020 in a show of retaliation. But for fear of a possible US response, the regime had its anti-aircraft systems ready around Tehran to counter US retaliatory strikes.

However, the regime did not ban passenger flights in those circumstances, which led to the firing of the IRGC missiles and the downing of a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 passengers.

Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752 was a passenger flight of Ukrainian airlines. The flight, originating from Tehran to Kiev, was shot down on January 8, 2020 by the IRGC.

The regime immediately blamed the cause of the fall on a “technical defect”!

But the revelations of the people and families of the victims, as well as the international stance, were so widespread that the regime was forced to confess to the crime on January 11, 2020, through a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces. But they fraudulently declared the cause to be “human error.”

Following the revelation of the regime’s secrecy in this crime, on January 11, students and protesters staged a rally in front of Amirkabir University and Sharif University of Technology in Tehran. They chanted slogans against this lie of the mullahs’ regime and demanded Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s resignation. An action that turned into a nationwide uprising and the rejection of both the monarchy and mullahs was the main slogan.

A few weeks before the anniversary of this crime, the regime of the mullahs announced that in the budget of the year 1400, equivalent to 2021, the amount of 200 million Euros has been lined up for the payment of compensation to the families, i.e. $150,000 dollars per victim. But this line was removed from the budget.

The families of the victims are seeking justice. They seek to prosecute the criminals, not compensation from the pockets of the nation. “The next step is to try the criminals,” they say. For our part, we stand against this scandal. “Even though we have lost everything.”

Following the crash of the Ukrainian plane, litigation by the victims is still ongoing.

As the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said: “Downing of passenger jet is a major crime that people will neither forgive nor forget”. “The regime had given advance warning about its missile attack on American bases to the Iraqi government & its military & through them to the US. But did not issue any advance notice to our compatriots & did not cancel passenger flights”.
