The misogynous clerical regime’s CSW membership is a disgrace
The misogynous clerical regime’s CSW membership is a disgrace that the international community needs to strongly condemn
Membership of the mullahs’ misogynous religious fascism in the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is a step against women’s rights and human rights. The measure flagrantly contradicts the philosophy of the United Nations’ existence and allows the regime to step up the suppression and marginalization of Iranian women.
Misogyny, discrimination, and violence against women are institutionalized in the regime’s constitution and penal and civil laws. Noting the clerical regime’s criminal record and considering the regime’s violent and discriminatory treatment of Iranian women in all realms, this regime and its representatives are not qualified to be present in the United Nations, let alone their membership in the Commission on the Status of Women.
The clerical regime’s CSW membership is an insult to Iranian women who have struggled against this medieval regime for more than four decades to regain their rights. According to the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, the regime treats women as second-class citizens. It is the world’s top executioner of women. The regime has hindered the adoption of any law from stopping violence against women. In law and practice, it promotes and supports this violence. It has recruited 27 ministries and official government agencies to enforce violence against women in the streets across the country.
Despite Iranian women’s incredible talents and potentials, the misogynous regime has in law and practice imposed the worst social restrictions on them, depriving them of social, political, and economic participation.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran urges all UN member states and all international bodies defending women’s rights and human rights to condemn the clerical dictatorship’s membership in the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). They should not allow this membership to become a backing for further suppression and discrimination against Iranian women.
