Iran: Prevent women from entering Mashhad stadium, March 29, 2022
Iran: Prevent women from entering Mashhad stadium, March 29, 2022

Transforming any subject into an extensive challenge is one of the signs of crisis governance. A situation that reflects the current condition of the mullahs’ regime in Iran. Economic bankruptcy, an international relations crisis, expansion of social demands, destruction of the environment, conflict within the regime’s factions, and widespread corruption. There is a super crisis in this regime in each of these areas, and there is no solution in sight.

From March 29, the topic of “football” and the presence of women in stadiums also became a crisis for the regime.

As the highest level of the regime came to the stage, the mass murderer Ebrahim Raisi described the latest crisis as “bitter margins” at the cabinet meeting and called on the Interior Minister to follow it up. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the regime’s speaker of parliament, called the crisis “unreasonable and far from dignity” and commissioned the internal commission of the parliament to resolve it. Mullah Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, Attorney General of the regime, also said that “the officials should use their brains” not to challenge the system like this.

The crisis began with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei‘s savage agents attacking women and girls with tear gas and pepper gas in front of Imam Reza Stadium in Mashhad on March 29, 2022.

This was while the regime’s organizations had sold them the tickets. However, they were not allowed to enter the stadium to watch the football match due to their gender. So, women and girls protested at the same point, and Khamenei’s savage agents were sent down to suppress them.

However, in the virtual space, the images of this brutality quickly filled social networks. And it created a massive hatred towards Khamenei, Raisi, Alam al-Hoda, and the regime’s integrity.

The reason for selling tickets to women is the regime’s effort to deceive FIFA. As the international body has repeatedly warned the mullahs, citing anti-female and medieval rules of the regime, including that “it should be allowed to allow women’s presence in football league games from June 2021” (Fifa official letter of February 2020); and in case of disobedience, the regime will be banned from participating in world competitions, an action that would have political and social consequences for the regime.

Now the mullahs wanted to deceive FIFA by selling tickets to women, but simultaneously, they prevented women from attending the stadium because of their misogynist nature.

The reason is apparent: the governor of the regime in Mashhad stated: “We were the executors of Tehran’s orders”.

Khamenei knows that the slightest gap in the wall of repression, especially by women, will bring down this whole rotten wall.

However, this crisis brought the regime’s plan on its head. International bodies saw the reality, and a new wave of anger and hatred swept through Iranian society.

This incident revealed the nature of the misogynist and repressive Velayat Faqih regime (absolute religious tyranny) and its shaky structure. This is another example of the severity of the crisis of the mullahs’ regime that can’t intervene with the slightest maneuver about what it calls a marginal issue.
