Senator Giulio Terzi and Italian MPs Visit Ashraf-3, Meeting With the NCRI President-Elect Maryam Rajavi

March 2, 2023: Senator Giulio Terzi, the head of the Senate European Union Affairs Committee and former Italian foreign minister, led a delegation of Italian Parliament members to meet with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The delegation also included Ms. Stefania Ascari from the Judicial Committee and Mr. Emanuele Pozzolo from the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Moreover, Italian delegation participated in a meeting with the MEK members in Ashraf-3. Mrs. Rajavi and the delegation from Italy made speeches at this meeting.

An excerpt of Mrs. Rajavi’s, Senator Tretzi’s and representatives of the Italian Parliament’s speech in the meeting with MEK members in Ashraf 3 is as follows:

Mrs. Rajavi expressed her appreciation for the efforts of Senator Terzi and members of both houses of the Parliament of Italy in supporting the Iranian people’s uprising and democratic revolution, as well as their efforts to protect the PMOI/MEK against ground and missile attacks in Ashraf and Liberty over the past years.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said: “Despite killing more than 750 young men and women and making extensive arrests, the mullahs’ regime is not able to control the explosive situation of the society and confront the uprisings, the courageous youths, and Resistance Units”.

Senator Terzi said: Working with you and the Iranian resistance movement was an excellent experience. You have done great things in the political scene. Unlike many other movements, you are independent. The advances in Ashraf 3 in recent years, in every way, the organizational and political human capacities of the PMOI/MEK, and the extraordinary leadership of Mrs. Rajavi have brought the prospect of a democratic Iran ever closer.

Senator Terzi added that the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom is not limited to the era of the religious regime; they also fought for freedom during Shah’s dictatorship. The people of Iran were suppressed and oppressed under both regimes, and that’s why they reject any dictatorship in their uprising today. Returning to the previous dictatorship is nothing more than a mirage, only the Iranian regime benefits from such a discussion.

Ms. Stefania Ascari, Italian MP, said: I worked in the Italian Parliament drafting an act on violence against women. When I saw the actions of the mullahs’ regime against women, I understood very well how much the ruling mullahs feared women. For this reason, I have the highest respect for Iranian women and you, a genuine leader, and I thank you.

Mr. Emanuele Pozzolo, Italian MP and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said: We pledge to convey what we saw in the Museum of Resistance to other parliamentarians, and especially to expose the regime’s taking advantage of religion to justify its crimes.
In addition to visiting the Resistance’s Museum and various parts of Ashraf-3 during their two-day visit, the delegation from the Italian Parliament, headed by Senator Terzi, also participated in, and addressed a gathering of PMOI freedom fighters.
