Support for a Democratic Republic: Global Rally Stands with Free Iran 2023

Prominent global leaders, politicians, lawmakers, and activists gathered in France on Saturday, July 1, 2023, to show their unwavering support for the Iranian people in their quest to overthrow the oppressive regime and establish a democratic and secular republic in Iran. The Free Iran 2023 World Summit coincided with a rally in Paris, where Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance joined forces to amplify the voice of the Iranian people.

During the summit, participants delivered speeches that focused on various aspects, including the ongoing protests in Iran, the long-standing struggle of the Iranian Resistance movement, and the need for the right policies to confront the mullahs’ regime. The common theme reiterated throughout the speeches was the determination to stand with the Iranian people in their fight against the tyrannical rule of the mullahs.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), emphasized the futility of appeasement towards the regime. She warned against the potential for increased bloodshed, executions, and imprisonment if the international community continues to enable the regime. Mrs. Rajavi highlighted the historical inevitability of the regime’s downfall, drawing parallels to the overthrow of the shah’s dictatorship.

Mrs. Rajavi also shed light on the regime’s desperation, evident in their call for foreign intervention and suppression of the popular uprising. She called for the support of the international community in recognizing and endorsing the Iranian people’s desire for a democratically elected republic and a non-nuclear Iran. Mrs. Rajavi expressed her gratitude to the solidarity shown by various groups, parties, and individuals who unite under the shared aspiration for a liberated Iran and a genuinely democratic republic.

The failure of the policy of appeasement towards the regime was a recurring theme in the speeches. Former US Vice President Mike Pence stressed that appeasement never works and called for support for the alternative represented by the MEK (Mujahedin-e Khalq), a well-organized and popularly supported resistance movement. Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the lifting of sanctions on the regime and called for stronger support for the Iranian people in their opposition to the despotic government.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper praised the Iranian people’s relentless protests, emphasizing their desire for freedom from any form of dictatorship.

Former British Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss highlighted the courageous role of Iranian women in the struggle for freedom.

Several other leaders and lawmakers from different countries expressed their support for the Iranian people and their resistance movement, condemning the regime’s human rights abuses and aggressive behavior.

The speeches also highlighted the potential consequences of any nuclear deal with the regime, including the unfreezing of assets that would be used for further terrorism and the development of nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The role of the Iranian Resistance in challenging the regime’s authority and exposing its vulnerabilities was also emphasized.

The summit concluded with a call for concrete measures and support for the Ten-Point Plan proposed by Mrs. Rajavi, which envisions a future Iran based on freedom, democracy, and individual rights. Leaders urged their respective governments to rally around this plan and take decisive action to prepare for the change in Iran.

In summary, the Free Iran 2023 World Summit brought together global leaders and activists in a united front of support for the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy. The speeches highlighted the failures of appeasement, the need for a firm policy, the role of women in the resistance, and the importance of endorsing the Ten-Point Plan as a roadmap for a democratic transition in Iran.
