FoFIAF Issues a Warning to EU Leadership Regarding Iran's Regime Manipulation of the European Justice System

In early August, members of the Friends of a Free Iran Committee in Nordic Countries (FoFIAF) penned a letter addressed to the European Union leadership, as well as the Prime Ministers of Norway and Iceland. The letter raised concerns about the recent surge in state-sanctioned executions in Iran and cautioned against the Iranian regime’s new efforts to suppress its primary resistance movement (PMOI/MEK).

According to the FoFIAF letter, the regime’s judiciary, known for its unfair trials and numerous human rights violations, has issued indictments against 104 members of the Iranian Resistance. The letter emphasized the regime’s intention to employ various manipulative tactics and disseminate false information to secure the extradition of these individuals to Iran.

FoFIAF called for a strong condemnation of the Iranian regime’s attempts to manipulate the judicial systems of the European Union and Europe, aiming to extend its oppressive reach beyond its borders. They also urged for the protection of the rights and freedoms of Iranian refugees, in accordance with international conventions, both within the European Union and Albania.

Furthermore, they advocated for the prompt establishment of an international tribunal to bring to justice the leaders of the Iranian regime who have been implicated in four decades of crimes against humanity. Specifically, they mentioned Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, President Ebrahim Raisi, and the head of the Judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, all of whom bear direct responsibility for the 1988 massacre.
