In August 2023, the International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) issued a statement urgently bringing to the attention of European Union leaders and heads of state a significant breach of international law.
On July 29, 2023, the Iranian regime’s Judiciary filed 105 indictments against individuals affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), with many of them being European refugees or citizens. The Iranian regime audaciously demanded legal representation within a mere month and issued threats of potential consequences.
The ISJ’s statement underscored the alarming fact that, in light of the Iranian regime’s extensive history of human rights violations and executions, it is currently exploiting the EU’s lack of action in order to stifle its primary organized opposition group located outside Iran.
The ISJ implored EU leaders to denounce these oppressive actions, safeguard the rights of PMOI members, and contemplate the indictment of Iranian regime officials for their involvement in crimes against humanity.
