In August 2023, Dan-Cristian Popescu, Maria Grecea, and Liviu Titus Pasca, members of the Committee of Romanian Parliamentarians for a Free Iran, conveyed their deep concerns to Charles Michel, the President of the European Council. They expressed their grave apprehensions regarding the relentless efforts of the Iranian regime against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and its supporters.
The CRPFI underscored the Iranian regime’s history of using violence against members of the Iranian Resistance and pointed out the recent issuance of arrest warrants by the Iranian regime’s Judiciary against the MEK and 104 individuals residing in European countries. This move by the Iranian regime revealed its desperation in the face of mounting domestic dissent.
These parliamentarians urged the European Union to stand by its democratic principles and lend its support to the establishment of an international tribunal to hold the regime accountable for its crimes against humanity. They also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of Iranian political refugees within Ashraf-3 and called for a resolute stance against the regime’s conspiratorial actions.
