Iranian Regime Executes the Second Young Protester Majidreza Rahnavard in the Face of Continued the Nationwide Iran Protests

Monday, December 12, 2022: Iran’s regime executed political prisoner Majidreza Rahnavard (مجیدرضا رهنورد), 23, in Mashhad. Majidreza was hanged in public in an act of utter brutality. Rahnavard was one of thousands arrested during nationwide protests that began in September.

He was charged with “Moharebeh” (enmity with God), which the regime uses against dissidents. Rahnavard was sentenced to death five days after his arrest and without access to a lawyer. The regime executed him 23 days after his arrest and in defiance of international condemnation.

Last week, the regime executed Mohsen Shekari(محسن شکاری), 23, another protester, on “Moharebeh” charges. The regime has killed over 700 civilians in recent uprisings. Over 30,000 others have been arrested. Dozens are under the threat of being executed. The international community must intervene to put an end to the Iranian regime’s brutality.

Based on, the secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) statement on December 12, on the occasion of martyrdom of Majidreza Rahnavard and the seventh day of execution of Mohsen Shekari, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of NCRI declared protests and national mourning.

She added that Khamenei tries to save his falling regime with these heinous crimes. He is trying in vain to save himself from the anger and hatred of 85 million Iranians; rather, he only accelerates inevitable fall of the religious dictatorship.

Mrs. Rajavi continued the United Nations, the Security Council, the European Union, and its member states should take effective and practical measures against the religious fascism ruling Iran to stop executions and killings. Verbal positions are not enough; the embassies of this regime must be shut down, the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and the IRGC must be placed on the terrorist list, and the mercenaries of the MOIS and IRGC must be expelled. Dealing and interaction with a regime that is a disgrace to contemporary humanity is trampling the human rights values.

Also, the international community has widely condemned this brutal execution.
