On the morning of Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the official Judiciary media of the Mullahs’ regime announced the execution of political prisoner Mohammad Ghobadlou, a detainee from the 2022 Iranian uprising. This execution took place despite protests from his lawyer and human rights activists.
The head of the judiciary must STOP the arbitrary execution of Mohamed Ghobadlou, suddenly & unlawfully scheduled for tomorrow. The case of this young man with a disability arrested in connection with the 2022 protests has been marred by torture and secretive proceedings. pic.twitter.com/NuGkb4YGg3

The regime’s Judiciary News Agency – Mizan reported on Tuesday, January 23, that the criminal court of Tehran province had executed the verdict on Mohammad Ghobadlou’s “retaliation in kind” in the case of killing a suppressor agent. The execution occurred after approval from the Supreme Court of the mullahs.
Mohammad Ghobadlou’s lawyer, Amir Raisian, argued that the execution was “illegal” based on the client’s case process and insisted on Ghobadlou’s right to a retrial at this stage.
Raisian emphasized that the execution of the death sentence lacked legal authorization, unequivocally branding it as murder.
Surprisingly, just one day prior to Mohammad Ghobadlou’s execution, the regime’s judicial system had notified his lawyer that the sentence had been referred to the sentence enforcement department and would be carried out on Tuesday.
On Monday, January 22, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi issued a message on the X channel, urging all compatriots, especially the youth of Tehran and Alborz, to protest the execution Mohammad Ghobadlou and Sunni political prisoner Farhad Salimi.
Mrs. Rajavi said: “I earnestly urge all my fellow citizens, especially the youth in Tehran and Alborz, to protest against the unjust verdict condemning imprisoned protester, Mohammad Ghobadlou, and Sunni political prisoner Farhad Salimi to execution. Both have been transferred to solitary cells, placing them at imminent risk of execution.
In these critical moments, I appeal for swift intervention from the UN and its pertinent agencies, specifically the Human Rights Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Iran, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the death penalty. It is imperative that collective efforts are made to save the lives of Mohammad and Farhad.”
